Settlers Green invites area nonprofits, school groups and friends to compete for up to $500 in a new, unique charity event on Saturday, April 30.
Pogo Pillo Polo, which was a featured event in the 1990s Nickelodeon show, "Wild & Crazy Kids", combines hopper balls with the game of pillo polo, a game played in many school physical education programs.
This fun and competitive 3v3 tournament will played "on the green" near Timberland Factory Store and Gap Outlet.
"This is a great opportunity for sports teams fundraising to buy uniforms, schools raising money for field trips or nonprofits looking for project funds," said Laura Tuveson, Assistant Marketing Director at Settlers Green. "While we will allow businesses and groups of friends and family to compete, we ask that select a nonprofit of their choice to donate the winning prize to."
The three categories include Kids Play (5-12), Kind of Adults (13-18) and Adults (19+). Teams can have up to six people on a roster, but only three players can be on the field of play, in this double elimination tournament. The game ball will be a inflatable beach ball and there will be oversized nets for scoring at each end.
Teams must register in advance by Thursday, April 28. A team deposit of $10 is required to register. Each team member will receive a goodie bag at registration on the day of the event that includes a $10 gift certificate for Settlers Green. Registration is available online at settlersgreen.com.
